Sustainability for Sports Premium
In order to ensure sustainability, each class teacher and TA works alongside the sports coach and their own class for half a term. This enables them to experience good practice and to maintain/enhance their skills. They also teach a lesson each week. This is not just the duty of the PE Lead or Coach.
PD days and staff meetings have been allocated to update staff on new safety guidelines as well as feedback from CPD attended by the PE Lead. Staff are aware of the five key indicators from the Sports Premium Document and a monitoring system is in place to ensure good practice with drop-ins sessions and team teaching.
Links with Ipswich Tennis, ClipnClimb and Dance East have been established to give pupils and staff access to a broader range of activities. Chance to Shine and Elite Sports camps are attended by many children out of school hours. The school is a member of the Schools Games Partnership, which offers competitions for the pupils and CPD for school staff.
The school has also invested in Imoves, which provides tools for CPD as well as enabling staff to extend their knowledge outside School Sports and increasing their confidence in teaching Dance and Gymnastics.
Our Play Leader team at lunchtime is led by the TA who works with many year groups in PE. The lunchtime Play Leader coordinates a rotating team of pupils who set up the lunchtime activities. This also includes a Peer Mentor Scheme.
All staff assist with attending fixtures or covering for clubs. This ensures that the events can always go ahead and teachers feel confident and experienced in attending events outside the classroom.
